Murray Recruitment are recruiting an Estimator for our client based in Falkirk.
Role Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation within the specialist construction sector. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing competitive and profitable tenders, directly contributing to the company’s expanding workload and revenue targets. Working across a wide range of projects, the Estimator will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of high-quality tender submissions.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce tenders and quotations for various specialist works including concrete repairs, cathodic protection, resin injection, concrete spraying, hydro demolition, waterproofing, plate bonding, and coatings.
* Maintain and update the CRM database, allocate tender numbers, and distribute tender documentation.
* Conduct tender risk assessments and manage associated procedures.
* Prepare subcontract and material enquiries and analyse quotations.
* Undertake site visits to gather measurements, photographs, and evaluate constraints.
* Extract take-offs from drawings and compile defect schedules.
* Estimate labour requirements and develop programmes using MS Project.
* Collaborate with Contracts, Project and Site Managers, Engineers, Commercial, Estimating, and Marketing teams.
* Attend pre-contract meetings and support quality bid submissions.
* Review contract clauses and raise concerns as necessary.
* Support contract reviews and assist with negotiations upon order receipt.
* Prepare budget estimates and contribute to sustainability and health & safety initiatives.
* Maintain professionalism, integrity, and a high standard of quality in all tasks.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.
Skills & Experience
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experienced with Microsoft Project.
* Solid understanding of NEC 3 & 4 / JCT construction contract forms.
* Knowledge of construction techniques, materials, market trends, and tendering procedures.
* Familiarity with measurement methods such as CRAMM and Highways.
* Strong commercial awareness, financial insight, and analytical ability.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in a similar estimating role within the construction industry.
* Relevant degree or higher-level qualification.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Internal training in cathodic protection and introduction to temporary works is desirable.
