Hours of Work: 35 Hours Per Week - Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Job Role: The Diocesan Trust Officer reports to the Bishop of Derry and liaises with the Executive Director to support the aims and objectives of Derry Diocesan Trust. The main areas of responsibility will include finance, payroll, and HR administration.
Job Responsibilities:
Finance:
• Assisting with detailed review and analysis of Annual Financial Statements of parishes and other diocesan entities to confirm appropriate amounts for consolidation into the accounts of Derry Diocesan Trust and to identify any necessary and appropriate consolidation adjustments; liaising with parishes/other diocesan entities to incorporate consolidation adjustments into parish/other diocesan entities accounting records.
• Delivering a programme of financial management support to parishes/other diocesan entities including identification of financial management issues, financial viability issues, areas for improved financial performance; delivering a programme of support visits to parishes/other diocesan entities to provide recommendations and advice including meetings with any relevant finance committee/s.
• Review of use of Lifetime accounting software across parishes/other diocesan entities to ensure effective and consistent use; providing Lifetime-based training and support to parishes/other diocesan entities and assisting with Lifetime-based queries and issues.
• Assisting with a Diocesan internal audit function to support parishes/other diocesan entities in achieving good practice in the areas of finance and administration including implementation of the Diocesan guidelines set out in Financial and Administrative Policies and Procedures; assisting in the ongoing development and implementation of Diocesan Policies and Procedures.
• Providing support and assistance to parishes in relation to Gift Aid, income generation and fundraising, administration of draws and lotteries and cost management.
• Assisting as required in all areas of diocesan financial administration and with ad-hoc finance-based projects.
Payroll and HR:
• Manage and administer the monthly payroll function (NI and ROI) of Derry Diocesan Trust including maintenance of payroll records, submission of HMRC and Revenue returns, submission of other statutory returns (eg NEST) and liaison with parishes/other diocesan entities in relation to payroll.
• Compilation and submission of Equality Commission returns and maintenance of all necessary underlying records.
• Provision of administrative support to parishes/other diocesan entities in new staff appointments in liaison with Personnel Consultant, if required.
• Assisting with the review and implementation of existing HR policies and procedures across the diocese.
• Provision of administrative support to the Personnel Consultant as and when required.
• Report to the Diocesan Personnel Committee as and when required.
General:
Assisting in general diocesan administration and ad-hoc projects as they arise including the areas listed below.
• Data protection and GDPR.
• Administration of property management programmes for parishes and other diocesan properties.
• Maintenance of diocesan fixed asset register.
• Providing support to diocesan committees as and when required.
• Any other duties, within your capabilities, that may arise from time to time.
