Design Engineer - Preston
Our Client is a leading Civil Engineering Contractor with interests across water, marine, and Environment Agency works.
The role of the Design Engineer is to provide engineering support at all stages of the tendering and construction process for the Specialist Businesses.
Key Accountabilities as Design Engineer:
1. Design and detailing of temporary and permanent works in accordance with recognised standards and in a variety of structural forms.
2. The production of:
1. Design calculations
2. Drawings / sketches
3. Design Risk Assessments
4. Technical reports
5. Checking of internal and external design packages
6. Final approval of design deliverables prior to issue
7. Provision of general engineering support
3. May involve:
1. Providing advice
2. Production of technical notes to circulate at business level
3. Attendance at meetings - internal and external
4. Visiting sites
5. Carrying out inspections
6. Liaising with Project Teams and Consultants
7. Use of CAD software such as AutoCAD and SketchUp
8. Producing tender, contract, or As Built drawings, 2D and 3D as appropriate
9. Liaison between project teams and external consultants
10. Monitoring progress
11. Reviewing information received
12. Attend weekly resource allocation meetings and provide updates
13. Monitoring progress against programme
14. Acting as a mentor to colleagues training towards a professional qualification
15. Contribute to continuous improvement of department
16. Act as single point of contact for allocated projects
17. Aware of project programmes within own area of responsibility
18. Aware of commercial arrangements within own area of responsibility
