Senior Sister/Charge Nurse/ Clinical Educator
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Clinical Educator 12-month secondment within the Gynaecology Department at Mid Yorkshire NHS Teaching Trust. This position will be primarily at Pinderfields Hospital on the Gynaecology Assessment Unit (GAU) and Early Pregnancy Unit (EPU) but also supporting Gynaecology Outpatients, which is based over the three sites to include Dewsbury Hospital and Pontefract Hospital.

As an experienced nurse, you will be working with a friendly and motivated team of Registered and non-registered nursing staff, and working with Matron in Gynaecology to improve and develop the service.
The role involves working closely with the medical team in supporting patients who attend the gynaecology assessment unit, supporting and developing nurses in their role within the unit, and developing the unit to meet the needs of the current population and demands.

Main duties of the job
As a Senior Nurse/Charge Nurse/Clinical Educator, you would be required to be competent in the assessment and treatment of patients presenting with a range of gynaecological conditions in the Gynaecology Assessment Unit. Alongside this, you should be able to support patients in early pregnancy with pregnancy loss at nurse practitioner level.
You will undertake investigations to support diagnosing and treating patients who attend the service.
The post holder will also be actively supporting the development of the band 6, 5, and 4 nursing staff to gain further skills in the specialty, alongside management responsibilities such as audits, staff engagement, and roster management.

Job responsibilities
Develop a high level of clinical decision making, monitor and improve standards of care, working within their advanced scope of professional practice.
Lead clinical care by managing a patient caseload providing expert assessment, planning, and evaluation.
Co-ordinate and manage nurse-led clinics (within Specialty/service).
Contribute towards a multi-professional approach in the management of patients within the specialist area, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
Support patients and their families and ensure that they receive the required information to enable them to self-manage, lead, or participate in their care delivery.
To support, assist, and encourage the multi-disciplinary team in resolving patient problems, by the provision of new and innovative models of case management.
Work with the Matron to promote the development of nurses undertaking the CNO Ten Key Roles as considered appropriate e.g. Nurse Prescribing.

Qualifications
* NMC Registration.
