Aspiring Occupational Therapist

We are looking for a dedicated Aspiring Occupational Therapist to support children with moderate learning difficulties and additional mental health needs. This school is based in Eastbourne for children aged 8-16 and specializes in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) to provide exceptional education and extra help for traumatized children and young people.
You will be helping children who have come from trauma or neglected backgrounds, who exhibit challenging behavior, ADHD, or Autism, and who have developed mental health issues due to their needs. You will provide additional support in improving their social, emotional, and mental well-being.

Responsibilities of an Aspiring Occupational Therapist:
1. Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience for students.
2. Ability to perform conflict resolution and de-escalation.
3. Provide behavior and pastoral support.
4. Take an active role in forward planning with therapists.
5. Adopt a practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
6. Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
7. Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures.
8. Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

1. Impose patience and understanding.
2. Have an understanding of challenging behavior.
3. Always be adaptable in any given situation.
4. Be able to develop trusting and positive relationships with students.
