Scott Park Surgery in Southend, has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive receptionist/audio typist to join our team on a part-time basis for 20 hours per week. The hours are as follows; Monday 07:45 – 11:45 Tuesday 14:45 – 18:45 Wednesday 12:30 – 16:30 Thursday 09:00 – 13:00 Friday 07:45 – 11:45 It is essential that you are able to work these days and hours and have the ability to be flexible and work extra hours during holiday periods. The main responsibilities of the role include: Typing referral letters and medical reports. Answering telephone and assisting as necessary. Responding to queries and requests for assistance from patients/visitors. Making appointments and managing the booking system. Filing of patient records and other confidential documents. Data inputting. Issuing repeat prescriptions. General reception/admin duties as required. About the Candidate The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience, offers excellent communication skills, and has the following attributes: Touch typing is essential. Audio typing skills and computer literacy are desirable including having the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel. A current DBS would be an advantage. Previous GP experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. Confident using IT and can quickly pick up new software skills. Able to work under pressure and on your own initiative. Able to work in a polite, confidential, and discreet manner, respecting patients, and colleagues at all times. Must have good interpersonal skills. Must have time flexibility to do extra hours to cover annual leave, absence, short of staff as and when necessary, at short notice. Strong inter-personal and prioritising skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities. Need to be committed to delivering a quality service, be a team player and proactively identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement them. Need to plan ahead and respond to changes and understand the impact that these changes can have on the overall service delivery of the Practice.
