About The Job Salary: £36,648 - £39,186 a year pro rata Hours per week: 15 Contract type: Permanent Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a role where you can truly make an impact? We’re searching for a skilled individual with a strong background in accountancy and financial advisory services, particularly when it comes to handling complex financial issues. You’ll be stepping into a role where your expertise will be crucial in shaping strategic financial planning, advising senior leaders, and working on challenging projects that require a deep understanding of accountancy principles and financial systems. In this position, you’ll be using IT-based financial management systems—ideally, you’ll already be familiar with Civica Authority Financials—but if not, we’re confident you can get up to speed quickly. Your days will involve working with large spreadsheets, performing high-level financial calculations, and creating detailed reports. Whether you're leading project-based assignments or preparing presentations for key stakeholders, your work will directly influence important decisions. You’ll also have the opportunity to be a key contributor to financial training strategies and forward planning processes, making a real difference to the way we operate. Please note this role does not attract sponsorship. About You We’re looking for someone with in-depth experience in accountancy, ideally with a strong advisory background and a proven ability to tackle complex financial issues. Your expertise should extend to the use of financial management systems and large spreadsheets, and your ability to inform, persuade, and influence senior stakeholders will be key to your success. We need someone who can secure commitment to a course of action, while also building consensus around professional advice. You have excellent report writing and presentation skills, and you’re able to confidently communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences. Your numerical reasoning skills are top-notch, and you’re more than capable of leading project-based assignments and contributing to long-term financial strategies. The ideal candidate will have a full AAT qualification in accounting or equivalent, but if you have significant demonstrable experience in this field, we’d love to hear from you too. You’ll also have a strong knowledge of equal opportunities and how to integrate this into service delivery. Most importantly, you’re a team player who can work independently when needed, adjusting to the changing demands of the service. If you’re passionate about making a difference in the financial operations of a Local Authority and have the experience to back it up, we’d love to hear from you.
