Hours- 30 hours a week
Purpose
1. To provide the best level of service to customers, thereby maximising sales and profit
2. To assist and support the Store Manager in all aspects of the business including sales, security, cash and stock control
3. To control and operate a Winemark store in the Store Managers absence in accordance with Company policies and procedures
Responsibilities
To assist and support the Manager in the following:
4. staff training and development
5. motivating and encouraging the team to attain sales targets
6. stock management
7. ensuring staff adhere to all Company instructions, policies and procedures
8. ensuring the store is operated in accordance with Company budgets
9. planning and implementing any changes in promotional activity
10. administration, for example, investigating cash / stock discrepancies, payroll and marketing
These responsibilities are in addition to the following:
11. To assist in customer relations by maintaining excellent customer service at all times, including an up to date knowledge of store products on display
12. Identifying selling opportunities and acting on these
13. To assume responsibility for housekeeping standards both inside and outside the store according to Company standards
14. To ensure that the premises are safe and secure at all times
15. To comply with the Company regulations with regard to cash handling and administration
16. To comply with all health and safety information and to ensure compliance with all licensing and trading standards legislation
17. Any other duties relevant and related to the post
Qualifications
Essential
18. Maths and English GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent
OR
1 year previous supervisory experience in a retail or customer focused environment
Desirable
19. NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Customer Service or Retail Operations or equivalent
20. WSET Level 1 Wine Certificate; Level 2 also preferred
21. Must be committed to successfully completing WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits
Skills and Experience
Essential
22. Minimum of 6 months experience in a retail environment
23. To demonstrate the ability to solve problems and to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
24. Leadership qualities – to demonstrate your potential to be able to lead a team of people in the absence of the Store Manager and be able to set a positive example.
25. Have the ability to sustain consistent performance even under pressure, and willing to take on extra responsibility when required
26. Previous experience of an EPOS system and cash handling
27. Previous experience of stock handling and control
28. Communication Skills – a proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, demonstrating good written, verbal and listening skills
29. Customer focused - maintains a professional level of customer service at all times; identifies accurately the needs of internal and external customers and works to exceed the customer’s expectations by delivering a high quality service
30. Ability to actively sell to customers
31. Personal Drive and a pleasant, positive and enthusiastic, “can do” attitude, demonstrating an appropriate level of motivation
32. Excellent standard of dress and appearance
33. A valid driving license plus access to a car
Desirable
34. Previous experience in an off licence environment
35. Previous experience in a supervisory role
36. Interest and/or knowledge of wine
