As a Food Technology & Textiles Technician, you will be an integral part of the Technology Department, ensuring that students have the resources they need for their practical lessons. Your role will involve working closely with teachers to prepare materials, manage resources, and support students during lessons. You will also help to maintain a clean and safe environment for learning, ensuring equipment is ready and available. As a Food Technology & Textiles Technician Responsible For Working as part of the Technology Department Team to provide the resources, safe working environment, assistance, and support to the teaching staff, with the aim of optimising the learning of Food Technology for the students at the school. Duties To be responsible for preparing practical lessons, assisting during lessons where necessary, and clearing up after practical lessons. To be responsible for weekly ordering of ingredients, preparing and checking orders for the department, and maintaining stock levels. To ensure the food rooms are clean, launder items where necessary, and clean equipment at the end of each day. To ensure demonstration materials, equipment, and provisions are available for use by the teaching staff, including purchasing items from local outlets. To carry out minor repairs and maintenance of equipment where possible, and arrange for specialists to handle more complex issues. To support teaching staff and students with practical work for Food Technology and Textiles. To ensure the application of Health & Safety procedures and raise awareness of any issues. To weigh and measure ingredients, set up food rooms with equipment, and assist with the preparation for Textiles lessons. Ensuring sewing machines are safe and working properly. Requirements Previous experience working in a school or educational setting. A strong understanding of Food Technology and Textiles equipment and resources. Knowledge of health and safety practices in practical classroom environments. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
