Candidates for the post must be registered medical practitioners and on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register within six months of the date of the Appointments Committee.
· The successful candidate will join the existing orthopaedic spinal ‘on-call’ rota at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. This is currently on a 1 in 10 basis and treating acute spinal oncology, trauma and infection. CES and non-traumatic spinal cord injury via Neurosurgery on call.
· The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their special interest and will supported in the development of this.
· The successful candidate will be required to provide an elective surgery service at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and at the Day Treatment Centre.
· Participate in audit and clinical governance.
· Show a commitment to continuing professional development.
· Participate in annual appraisal (for revalidation) and in the annual job planning process.
· Work with and support all members of the clinical team in the Emergency Department, in out-patient and fracture clinics, in the operating theatres and on the wards.

Thesuccessfulcandidatewilljoinateamof9 Consultants providing all aspects of spinal surgery including paediatric and adult deformity, degenerative conditions, spinal tumours including primary spinal tumours and acute spinal disorders. The candidate must have fellowship training or be on a spinal fellowship and with a specialist interest that could be developed within our unit.
