We’re currently looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our SEND school in Barking and Dagenham, London.
Your role will be to support the Class Teacher with all elements of the day-to-day running of the class and to teach whole classes, groups, and individual lessons in consultation with the Class Teacher on a regular basis across a range of classes.
The ideal candidate will have:
* HLTA status
* Experience of supporting, planning, evaluation, and delivery of learning activities in an educational setting
* The ability to take direction from the Class Teacher to ensure all tasks and learning are undertaken
* The ability to manage behaviour within and outside of the classroom
* An understanding of SEND, and methods for creating an inclusive learning environment
* The ability to remain calm in challenging situations
You will need to work one-to-one and with groups of students, delivering interventions which are proven to help young people with SEND.
In addition to the intervention groups that you run, you will also work closely with the teaching staff in the school, helping them to support the students you work with in their lessons. To ensure the support for our most vulnerable young people is having the very greatest impact, you will liaise effectively with the other staff teams who will be working with your students on their wider needs, including the attendance, behaviour, and pastoral teams.
