Job Title: Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry Grade: Consultant Location: Ilford, Essex Working Hours: 40 hours Rate: Competitive, to be discussed upon application An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our client's dynamic NHS team in Ilford, Essex. This position is available for an immediate start on a short-term contract, offering competitive rates. Key Responsibilities: In this role, you will provide clinical leadership to the Cook ward team, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). You will liaise with inpatient wards, Older Adults Home Treatment Teams (OA HTTs), and liaison services. The role will be primarily clinical in nature, involving supervision of staff and the use of electronic patient record systems. You will focus on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions in older adults. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing individualised care plans, providing therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care. You will also engage in service evaluation, audit, and research to enhance the quality of care provided. Qualifications and Experience: Registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) as a Consultant Psychiatrist. CCT in Old Age Psychiatry or equivalent. Experience in working with older adults in a mental health setting. Experience in clinical leadership and supervision. Proficiency in using electronic patient record systems. Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in service evaluation and research is desirable.
