Our Data Team ensures this information is accurately organised, quality-checked, and managed using software and in-house tools. As a Technical Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our Data Processors and Solutions Developers, assisting with data handling, coding tasks, and report preparation. This nine-month fixed-term role (covering maternity leave) comes with the possibility of an extension, making it an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a rapidly growing industry. Your Role Data Handling & Processing Work with geotechnical databases and GIS tools to manage and organise offshore and lab testing data. Ensure accuracy and consistency when transferring and verifying data. Input and update geotechnical data from various sources, maintaining high attention to detail. Retrieve and compile data for reporting and analysis. Coding & Technical Support Assist with basic scripting (Python, VBA etc) and ETL (Extract Transform Load) workflows to streamline data processing. Provide first-line support for data-related software, escalating issues as needed. Reporting & Compliance Assist in preparing reports, logs, and data packages under guidance from senior team members. Conduct quality checks to ensure data integrity and completeness. Understand & follow established standards and specifications before undertaking new tasks. Professional Growth Gain insight into geotechnical engineering and offshore site investigations. Develop your skills in Python, VBA, GIS, and data management through on-the-job mentoring & training opportunities. Who We’re Looking For We’re seeking motivated individuals who are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and enjoy working with data. The ideal candidate will have: Qualifications (A-level or higher) in Geoscience, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, OR relevant work/apprenticeship experience. Proficiency in data entry, cleaning, and quality control. Good skills in MS Office, especially with MS Excel for data handling. Experience (or willingness to learn) in Python, VBA, or GIS.
