Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You’ll be working in a part of Telent that is dedicated to maintaining the UK-wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail, and various Train Operating Companies.
Reporting to the Lead Safety and Security Engineer, the system engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works mainly across Network Rail, TFL, TFGM, etc., infrastructure. Acting as the systems engineer for customer projects, you will undertake all technical aspects, including survey, design, and technical aspects of SISS within a Rail environment.
Typical Deliverables
* Strong experience in system design, survey, and technical engineering within SISS.
* Lead on creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for new designs.
* Manage ideas from initial design to production and installation.
* Draw detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
* Use mathematical and scientific skills to develop real-world solutions.
* Select appropriate materials for new products or constructions.
* Calculate accurate cost analysis forecasts.
* Complete technical and regulatory documentation.
* Ensure quality-control tests on new products/systems and oversee their construction, development, and deployment.
Responsibilities
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of own engineering discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
* Arrange testing of products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
* Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
* Develop personal engineering skills.
* Solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
* Work independently with minimal guidance.
* Lead projects or project steps within broader projects.
* Mentor colleagues with less experience.
* Comply with QEHS requirements.
Skill Requirements
* Previous technical SISS experience, including engineering, design, and survey skills.
* Relevant licenses/certifications.
* Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively and customer-focused.
* Problem-solving passion and analytical skills.
