We are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to work within the Surgery & Cancer Board. This role will be ideal for an accounting technician with a solid technical background looking to develop in financial management. You will be familiar with a broad range of financial systems and processes and possess strong Excel skills and have an excellent attention to detail.
The role will involve working to reporting deadlines ensuring that all transactions are posted accurately and to deadlines, as well as ensuring the timely billing of various income sources. You will produce monthly budget reports and other data analysis/reports to support budget holders in understanding their financial position.

Main duties of the job
Main Duties:
1. Production of budget statements, establishment reports and other additional data/reports to budget holders as required
2. Respond to budget holder queries in an accurate and timely manner
3. Attend budget holder meetings and to be able to interpret and explain complex financial information (verbally and written) to non-finance staff
4. Maintain budgeted and actual establishments
5. Ensure accurate billing of salary and other income
Person specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. CCAB part qualified or AAT Technician level / NVQ 4 - part or full (or equivalent qualification / relevant experience)
2. Computer literacy in packages such as Excel and Word. Expected to design and create reports using financial spreadsheets and databases
3. Possess numeracy & literacy skills - up to 'A level or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
1. Minimum 1 year continuous finance experience
2. Use of computerised accounting systems and spreadsheets
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of working in NHS financial management
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
1. Ability to use computers to produce information, particularly Excel and Access
2. Ability to use written and spoken means of communication to clearly convey ideas and information
