Job summary
We are seeking speciality doctors in anaesthetics to join our busy and dynamic department at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. Successful candidates will be based at a primary hospital (either Conquest Hospital, St Leonards or Eastbourne District General Hospital) with the expectation of cross-site working. On calls will also be based at a primary hospital. Post holders must have at least two years' experience in anaesthetics, with previous experience providing anaesthesia for emergency surgery beneficial. Competency in obstetric anaesthesia is desirable and critical care experience is required.
Main duties of the job
Post holders will participate in a 1:8 rota for out-of-hour service provision. This will based at your primary hospital.
Duties average 48 hours per week, including on calls. Rotas are EWTD compliant.

Job responsibilities
The post-holders will be expected to cross-cover essential services, with appropriate support and supervision provided by consultants and / or senior speciality doctor colleagues. We are one anaesthetics department covering two hospital sites. Clinical sessions will be allocated on both sites in the Trust and will be partly dictated by clinical need.

Essential
1. MBBS or equivalent
2. Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
Desirable
3. Primary FRCA or equivalent Other higher degree or qualification
Training & Experience
Essential
4. Wide experience in all aspects of anaesthesia appropriate to working in a DGH setting - including critical care.
5. Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in speciality training programme in a relevant speciality or as a fixed term speciality trainee in a relevant speciality or shall have equivalent experience and competencies
Desirable
6. Experience in anaesthetic subspecialities or other areas of medical practice
7. Understanding of service development and appreciation of ERAS concepts
