The Role As Chemify continues to automate all of chemistry, the Service and Support Technician will fulfil a key role ensuring that our robotic platforms receive the maintenance and servicing activities that are necessary to keep Chemify at the forefront of delivering digital chemical solutions to our customers and changing the world of Chemistry through automation The technician will work closely with technical colleagues across the business to respond to platform failures and manage the support ticketing system. This is a diverse role, and the technician will be expected to communicate effectively with many technical roles, from software engineers to chemists, helping to maintain our technologies in Chemify’s expanding network of discovery factories, first in Glasgow and then globally. The successful candidate will ideally have direct experience of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance preferably on laboratory instrumentation. Experience with robotic systems is desirable, but not essential. Additionally, the technician will have a service mentality to understand the needs of the business and will use it to minimise the downtime of our chemistry automation platforms. The ideal candidate will be a smart, enthusiastic, energetic, and ambitious individual excited to contribute to development of the world’s best infrastructure for high-throughput chemistry. Initially the candidate will report to the manager of the New Process and Technology Introduction team, however the intention is that once the Service and Support function is established, the role will report into the Service and Support Manager. Responsibilities Execution of preventative maintenance plans for automated chemistry platforms. Use of of Chemify’s support ticketing system (Jira-based). Assistance in development of the service and support function to become a critical part of Chemify’s operational infrastructure. Contributing to standard operating procedures to describe service and support procedures. Ensuring that consistent protocols and practices are maintained across all sites. Identifying opportunities for improvement in product and manufacturing processes. Improving the speed and efficiency of service and support to minimise platform downtime. Participate in other tasks across the company to ensure Chemify’s ultimate success. Requirements We welcome candidates with vocational qualifications (An engineering apprenticeship leading to an NVQ/SVQ at Level 3 or 4 and a minimum of 2 years’ experience post apprenticeship) as well as academic (BEng or equivalent in mechanical, or electrical engineering). Experience working to targets in a professional environment Good oral and written communication skills. Hardworking and excited to contribute to the Chemify mission. Desired skills & attributes Any experience in service, support and maintenance of mechanically engineered products. Experience in the creation and development of maintenance systems. Use of Jira to manage support ticketing. Experience of maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Experience with robotic, fluidic and pneumatic systems.
