Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Learning Disability

The Adult Learning Disability (ALD) directorate in North Yorkshire and York locality of TEWV is comprised of four community teams based in York, Scarborough, Knaresborough and Northallerton. The service is also in the process of developing a Community Intensive Support Team (IST) based in York but covering the whole North Yorkshire, York and Selby geography.
This post will provide input into the Scarborough, Whitby Ryedale area with a base in Scarborough. Specifically, this service is commissioned by the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
Referrals are received in each locality; each team operates a local duty system and triages their own referrals providing advice and support to referrers. We work with a range of system partners including colleagues from Primary Care, Local Authority and a number of different Voluntary Sector partners. This is a well-established post which has arisen due to the internal transfer of the current Consultant Psychiatrist covering the post.
Main duties of the job
The post is based within the Adult learning disability community team based at Systems House, Clifton Moor York, with easy access to all areas covered by the team. This post covers North York, Easingwold and Pocklington area. The team are highly regarded by local statutory and third sector partners with a good history of collaborative working. It is estimated that the total population in York is 208,079 (2019). There is also a notable aged population in York along with families of different nuclear status.
The consultant holds clinics and makes home visits throughout the area. There is a good relationship with local adult mental health services.
This is a community-based post. Patients requiring inpatient treatment where appropriate are admitted under Greenlight arrangements to Adult Mental Health ward. They can also have access to Learning disability Assessment and Treatment beds at Bank fields Court, Middlesbrough, which is part of TEWV services. RC responsibilities are managed by the inpatient Consultants.

* Approved Clinician Status and Section 12 Status OR be able to achieve within 3 months.
