Job Introduction
BBC News NI and TV Current Affairs provides both breaking news, analysis and features, and a number of television current affairs strands, for local audiences and network TV. We're looking for people who are passionate about working with others and who love being organised, and keeping on top of fast paced and evolving workload.
Working in the Business and Support Team, the primary objective of the Production Co-ordinator is to provide logistical coordination and support to the production teams working on a number of productions. You will work closely with the department's Production Manager, as well as Production Management Assistants and Scheduling teams.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day support to all areas of the current affairs team, leading on the preparation of call sheets, booking accommodation, transport and travel, visa applications, locations and payments for all production projects.
* Experience in dealing with contributors, on-screen talent, members of production and crew.
* Strong organisational and planning skills to manage conflicting demands to meet deadlines.
* Establish and maintain relationships with service providers, such as Access Bookings, suppliers and freelancers.
* Experience of BBC systems including MyBusiness, ACON, Short Talk Contracts, Smartbook & Albert.
* Provide IT coordinator support for the Current Affairs department, including oversight of the team's software and hardware requirements.
* Raise requisitions and payments via purchasing and the BBC Financial Systems, keeping detailed cost logs.
* Handle and process sensitive data and documents as required.
Are you the right candidate?
* Experience in building and maintaining detailed finance cost monitoring and reporting.
* Demonstrable knowledge of contracting crew and contributors via Purchasing/Smartbook and talent requisitions.
* Experience of working in a fast-paced production environment.
* Ability to meet conflicting deadlines and respond flexibly to change.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills, with keen attention to detail.
* Good time management skills, ability to prioritise effectively and remain calm under pressure.
* Ability to work as part of a team and build effective working relationships.
* Experience in generating call sheets and ensuring all talent, crew and contributors are up to date with information.
* Experience of being task manager and main point of contact for staff and freelancers.
* Able to support Production Managers in driving sustainable production techniques and efficiencies across processes.
