Hours: 7 days available, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM / 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM (Days/Nights)
Pay Rate: £18 - £22 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Complex Care Support Worker to provide high-quality care for an adult client with a spinal injury in the Hertfordshire area. You will be part of a dedicated team, delivering 1:1 personal care and support, ensuring the client’s health, comfort, and quality of life are maximized. This role involves working both day and night shifts on a flexible 7-day rota.
Key Responsibilities
* Personal Care: Assist with all aspects of personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, and continence care.
* Mobility Support: Help with moving and handling using specialist equipment (hoists, slings, etc.), ensuring safety at all times.
* Medication Management: Administer and monitor medications as prescribed, ensuring correct dosages and documentation.
* Complex Care: Provide specialist care for spinal injury-related needs such as ventilator or tracheostomy care, bowel and bladder management (catheter care), and pressure sore prevention.
* Daily Living Support: Assist with meal preparation, feeding, hydration, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the client.
* Emotional Support: Provide companionship, emotional support, and assist the client in engaging in hobbies and social activities.
* Health Monitoring: Regularly monitor and record the client’s health condition, reporting any concerns to healthcare professionals.
Essential Requirements
* Experience in Spinal Injury Care: Previous hands-on experience supporting adults with spinal cord injuries, including specific care for mobility, bowel/bladder management, and respiratory support.
* Relevant Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent is preferred.
* Manual Handling: Proficiency in moving and handling techniques and experience using specialist equipment (hoists, sliding sheets, etc.).
* First Aid & CPR: Up-to-date First Aid, CPR, and manual handling certificates.
* Flexibility: Willingness to work both days and nights on a rotating 12-hour shift basis, including weekends and public holidays.
* Right to Work: Must have the right to work in the UK.
Desirable
* Trained in specific care protocols such as ventilator care or tracheostomy management.
* A caring, empathetic, and patient-focused attitude.
* Full UK driving license (preferred but not essential).
