Job responsibilities You will act as the Head of the Wessex Regional Technical Cardiology Service overseeing 3 highly specialist sub-specialities performing a range of cardiac investigations and therapeutic techniques. Therefore we need a candidate with the ability to work across teams and services, build networks and be a trusted member of the wider care group management team to plan and implement service developments and maintain performance. As well as being a strong leader, the role also requires clinical commitment so you will need to demonstrate your highly specialist skills to the level of autonomous practitioner in one or more specialist areas providing clinical reports to aid and inform of diagnosis to assist with the management of patients with acquired and congenital heart disease (adult and paediatric) in routine and emergency situations. Our principal cardiac physiologist is also expected to manage, in conjunction with their own management team, the day to day operational issues of running a demanding inpatient and outpatient service as well as having responsibility for personnel issues. The service does provide some services away from the Southampton General Hospital site so you will need a driving license/vehicle or the ability to travel.
