Are you a practical person who would enjoy maintaining buildings and facilities, ensuring everything runs smoothly? Would you enjoy keeping facilities safe, functional, and well-maintained? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Facilities Services Operator Apprentice.
In this role, you'll play an active role in providing facilities services support to customers and facility management departments to ensure the efficient and effective running of the site(s).
Your key responsibilities may include:
- Support in managing the team providing soft services to the site(s), including reception, mail operations, meeting & events, cleaning, waste & recycling, vending & food services
- Monitor and maintain office equipment and supplies
- Support in managing and maintaining regular contact and meetings with relevant vendors - to report on issues, recommendations and cost estimates
- Weekly walk-round to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Manage Trouble Ticket (Remedy) requests (helpdesk) - interface with internal customers and action queries promptly in line with service level agreements
- Support to manage daily health & safety issues – maintaining regular scheduled meetings and records of the fire and safety teams/fire drills/safety equipment/training
- Assist in the organising of internal and external client events
- Managing the quality of conferencing facilities
- Support to manage food and kitchen facilities – provide direction to housekeepers
- Raise purchase orders
- Manage Wiki pages and other communication channels for the site(s)
- Responsible for all other duties and tasks as assigned
As a Facilities Service Operator Apprentice, every day is different and in all these activities, we’d encourage you to show your ingenuity. As you'll be delivering front-of-house services to internal and external customers excellent communication skills are key as well as the ability to develop relationships and collaborate effectively in a team environment. To be successful in this role you need to be customer-centric, actively listening to customer feedback, ensuring customer safety, and focusing on continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll need an interest in organising work schedules, maintaining tasks efficiently, and ensuring first class customer service whilst having great attention to detail. In addition, you’ll also need to enjoy problem-solving, be able to make decisions, and have an interest in health and safety as you’ll play a key role in adhering to health and safety regulations and keeping the work environment safe for customers.

You will gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills whilst working towards the Facilities Services Operative apprenticeship standard. As a working student your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off the job time by learning and developing your skills, knowledge and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You will be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to compliment your studies.
You will build your skills over an 18-month period, starting in July. These skills will help you develop personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will be made up of classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, online learning as well as mentoring from our experienced team members.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
For the apprenticeship programme we prioritise applicants eligible to government funding for their apprenticeship and for this you need to:
- Be 18 years or over before the start date
- Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the programme).
- Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
- Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme
- Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending June 2025 or later
- Have at least 2 GCSEs C grade (grade 4) or above including Maths and English
PLEASE NOTE: This position is an 18 month fixed-term contract.
You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship

Note: This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has some or little knowledge/experience of the occupation, and is NOT suitable for candidates who already have a similar or higher-level qualification in the same or similar subject of the apprenticeship.
