Deputy Superintendent
We are seeking a senior radiographer who wishes to work at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital so that they are surrounded by people who put patients first and are also keen to invest in themselves and the organisation.
The post-holder will be a radiographer who is keen to be part of an imaging service with a difference. Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust’s (CWHFT) imaging directorate is going through a period of transformational change where innovation is at the forefront of what we do.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting the MRI Superintendent in providing the operational management and coordination of the MRI service at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
The post holder will be responsible for the assisting the superintendents with coordination of the Quality Standards for Imaging accreditation.
Operationally they will be responsible for assisting in continual improvement of patient experience and quality of care improvement projects, vetting MRI requests, MRI protocol updates, training staff and students in MRI, department wide surveys and reviewing patient pathways.
The post holder must keep at the forefront of developments in MRI, and be able to implement them in our practices and work flow.

Successful applicants will be expected to produce high quality imaging services to assist in diagnosis and treatment and will also be responsible for training and supervising junior staff and students. Our staff are our most important asset which want to ensure reach their full potential.
Responsibilities include;

6. Work closely with the MRI Physics/Siemens team to work on protocol development.

8. To be conversant with a broad range of MRI scanning protocols.
9. Ensure that policies, guidelines and local rules are strictly adhered to.
10. Assist with practical training of junior staff and student radiographers, acting as a role model through leading by example.
11. Communicate with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the service.
12. Ensure that guidelines and local rules are strictly adhered to.
13. Ensure that all guidelines relating to staff and patient safety are adhered to whilst in the MRI department.
14. Ensure that the rules and procedures of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 are strictly adhered to, and that all working areas are kept clean and safe.
15. Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes as required.
16. Proactively demonstrate interest in developing oneself professionally by proposing QI projects, collecting data and presenting at governance days and conferences.
17. Participate in research studies conducted at CWHFT, including those as part of Imperial College.
18. Report and record all equipment faults as well as be able to assist with the diagnosis and remedy of routine faults.
19. To offer an initial assessment and interpretation of images produced by themselves or more junior staff in the course of their role.
20. Comply with, and be able to demonstrate and instruct, safe manual handling techniques.
21. Comply with and be able to demonstrate safe infection control measures.
22. Strive to achieve competencies expected of a band 7 radiographer role.
23. To demonstrate flexibility and adaptability with rostering requirements to ensure a robust and safe imaging service across the Trust.
24. Maintain a high level of commitment to, and take responsibility for continuing professional development (CPD). The post holder is encouraged by the department to attend both personal and professional development activities that assist in their role and the service.
25. The post holder will be required to actively participate in a periodic professional development review, in accordance with Trust guidelines.
26. To undertake any other duties which may be appropriate to the post.
