We are delighted to offer a committed and dynamic Band 6 Occupational Therapist the opportunity to join Northumbria Healthcare and work in the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team based in North Tyneside. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person who has experience and a passion for working with children to join our well-established team. Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to have a wealth of knowledge and experience working with children to join our experienced therapists in various areas provided by the service. Responsibilities include:
1. Carrying out comprehensive assessments of a child's motor, perceptual, and physical abilities.
2. Conducting treatment sessions, either individually or in group work.
3. Providing equipment and minor adaptations.
This is a busy team that offers a good variety and range of experiences with children who attend mainstream schools, specialist provision, and community-based assessments. We work closely with colleagues in health, education, and social care to provide high-quality services.
Job responsibilities
1. Assess and review the level of need, organizing effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and time management.
2. Select and apply Occupational Therapy assessments in paediatrics, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits.
3. Work with children and their families to identify OT goals.
4. Monitor, evaluate, and modify interventions to measure progress and ensure effectiveness.
5. Plan and implement individual and group interventions as appropriate.
6. Assess and identify specialized children's equipment to meet individual needs.
7. Carry out home/school assessment visits and follow-up visits as part of the treatment plan.
8. Ensure all written and electronic records are up to date in accordance with Professional and Trust standards.
9. Comply with the COT code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
10. Demonstrate the ability to initiate, plan, and implement training and education of students and other staff members.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/degree in OT
* Student supervisor qualification within 12 months of appointment
* Post-registration experience in a relevant clinical area.
* Experience of research/audit
* Advice/support of junior staff and/or students
* Documented evidence of continuing professional development
Experience & Knowledge
* Knowledge/experience of a sensory integration approach to therapy.
* Membership of a professional body
Skills & Abilities
* Training and facilitation skills.
* Supervisory skills
Other Requirements
* A valid driving licence and either a car owner or a Trust personal lease vehicle for work purposes.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 a year Pro Rata, Per Annum
