Border Force is a law enforcement arm of the Home Office. We are responsible for handling the UK border control by implementing immigration and customs regulations and working with the wider Home Office on counter terrorism, organised crime, modern slavery and trafficking.

About the role
A qualified social worker, you’ll join the Irregular Migration Intake Unit (IMIU), which deals with irregular migrants. The unit registers and screens people arriving in the UK illegally, establishing the identity of asylum claimants from small boat arrivals, lorry drops and other clandestine arrivals.
Working with the Kent Intake Unit (KIU), which focuses particularly on unaccompanied children, you’ll identify youngsters and make sure they are placed into care quickly, with the help of Kent Children’s Services.
