The Role: As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing a small team, ensuring operational targets are met, and maintaining high standards of health and safety. You will lead by example, working alongside your team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Manage and oversee daily operations of the team Ensure all team members adhere to health & safety regulations Set and achieve production targets Provide hands-on leadership and training to ensure optimal performance Ensure a consistent supply of materials and report any shortages Maintain high-quality control standards Uphold excellent housekeeping practices, ensuring work areas are clean and organised Conduct shift handovers and report any issues to management Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment Deliver toolbox talks as required Health & Safety Responsibilities: Ensure all team members, including agency staff, wear the correct PPE and use tools safely Assign tasks only to trained operatives Ensure proper manual handling techniques are followed Identify and quarantine hazardous materials as necessary Conduct daily forklift truck (FLT) checks and report any damages Maintain accurate records of any incidents, ensuring timely reporting to management Reinforce site rules, including designated smoking areas Reporting & HR Duties: Complete shift reports, detailing production levels, housekeeping, and any issues Induct and train new operatives, ensuring compliance with company standards Conduct probationary reviews and maintain training records Monitor attendance, punctuality, and overall performance, escalating issues where necessary Recognise and reward outstanding performance Assist with disciplinary investigations and absence management Encourage effective communication within the team What We’re Looking For: Proven experience in a leadership role Strong organisational and communication skills Experienced in meeting and exceeding production targets A hands-on approach with a strong work ethic Experienced mentoring and training staff Proficiency in computer systems Forklift Licence (or willingness to obtain) Knowledge of health & safety and environmental legislation (preferably within the waste industry) This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact within a forward-thinking company.
