The Head of Perioperative Services is a key member of the Surgery Division Management Team, responsible for the operational management and delivery of clinical and professional standards within perioperative services. Perioperative services include theatres, anaesthetics, critical care, decontamination and sterile services, admissions and pre-assessment across the Trust sites (East Surrey and Crawley Hospitals).
The post holder will oversee the professional and clinical leadership for all non-medical teams working in theatres; ensure the delivery of safe, effective and responsive high-quality services in accordance with agreed national and local operational and strategic objectives, quality standards and resource constraints.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly visible, accessible and proactive leader ensuring the achievement of optimal performance, including agreed clinical and financial outcomes.
You must have experience and be comfortable in developing and leading the implementation and communications of a strategic workforce and capacity plan for perioperative services, working closely with the Clinical Leads for timely resource planning decisions.
You will be an integral part of the Trust's operational leading team as you will be expected to undertake a Duty Manager [GM of the Day] role, and be part of the Silver On-call rota. You will be responsible for managing patient flow across the site and ensuring emergency access standards are achieved, ensuring colleagues across divisions are allocated relevant actions, as necessary.
