Job Title: News Editor Location: London (Covent Garden), United Kingdom Type Of Employment: Full-time/permanent – hybrid work pattern Function: Editorial Investment Week is looking for a News Editor to oversee and manage the day-to-day running of the Investment Week website. The News Editor, who will have substantial experience in the industry, should have a keen interest in the financial services sector, a good nose for news, and the ability to prioritise tasks. They will work closely with a young, dynamic team of journalists, helping to guide the more junior members of the team in prioritising news flow and editing copy. They will also be responsible for setting the news agenda alongside other editors. Key tasks and responsibilities Writing and editing copy. Recognising breaking news and m aking fast decisions on their publication ensuring quality standards are maintained. Sourcing exclusive news stories and helping bring the skills of other journalists in the team to fruition. Ensuring accuracy, house style, and quality of journalism is maintained at all times. Chairing the weekly news meeting. Compiling and sending Investment Week’s news alerts. Representing the brand at key industry events. What we value At least three years’ experience in the financial journalism industry. Proven skills in a senior editorial role and a track record of writing exclusive news stories for a DFM/wealth manager audience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain a busy workload and prioritise tasks. A strong understanding of news journalism and the ability to prioritise the importance of various news stories. Knowledge and application of media law to written articles. Attention to detail, particularly when editing work and checking articles and multimedia content.
