Medway Council is seeking a strategic and creative Sales and Business Development Manager to lead on sales and client development across the historic Rochester Corn Exchange and potentially others in the future. As the Sales and Business Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving revenue and enhancing the reputation the venue. Working closely with management teams and reporting to the Rochester Corn Exchange Manager, you will: Lead venue sales, client engagement, and booking operations. Deliver outstanding customer experiences and front-of-house services. Implement innovative marketing strategies to grow audiences and bookings. Monitor and manage income and expenditure, ensuring financial sustainability. Develop effective partnerships to enhance our cultural offer. Oversee the work of event executives, casual staff, and volunteers. You will also deputise for the Corn Exchange Manager and play a key role in ensuring compliance with GDPR, health and safety, and Medway Council’s strategic goals. About You: You are a confident communicator and strategic thinker with: Experience in event or venue sales, especially within the weddings or corporate sector. A proven track record in developing successful marketing campaigns. Strong financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets effectively. A customer-first mindset and knowledge of excellent service delivery. The ability to lead and inspire teams, manage multiple projects, and thrive under pressure. Relevant qualifications in business, events, or management (or equivalent experience) are desirable, alongside strong IT and organisational skills.
