Teaching Personnel have a great opportunity to work with a Specialist day school based in Rudgeway. The school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with a range of complex learning needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and co-existing ADHD, speech, language and communication difficulties and attachment disorders.
Job overview
* To take the lead in developing and evaluating SEN practice in the school and to oversee the day to day operation of the school’s SEN policy.
* SEN to be defined as children with learning difficulties, disabilities or other barriers to learning and those in other vulnerable groups.
Roles and Responsibilities
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision through an evaluative provision map management cycle.
* Track children’s progress and set targets for raising achievement for children with a SEN.
* Take a lead on aspects of the Self Evaluation Framework (SEF) including a timetable which relate to SEN and inclusive provision.
* Support and develop colleagues in relation to SEN through advice, guidance and organisation of in-service training.
* Supervise and manage the SEN team of HLTA’s and TA’s.
* Secure, allocate and monitor a resource budget to ensure effective curriculum access for all children with a SEN.
* Keep up to date with knowledge of national and local initiatives and how they may impact upon policy and practice.
Qualifications/Experience
* Qualified teacher status/ Qualified teacher with at least 4 years’ experience.
* Evidence of CPD and commitment to further professional development.
* SENCO experience or commitment to undertake SENCO certificate.
* Have experience of teaching in KS3 or KS4.
* Experience of working with children with a wide range of SEN.
