Dales Marine Services seeks experienced Dock Masters to support all five of our drydocks. We are looking for innovative individuals who can expertly manage and coordinate all vessel docking and undocking operations at all of our drydocks. The role presents a unique and exciting opportunity to join Dales Marine Services, a ship repair company based across Scotland, which dry docks over 100 vessels annually.
The role of a Dock Master involves many responsibilities, such as reviewing vessel plans; ensuring precise placement of dock blocks according to docking plans; liaising with naval architects; leading all aspects of the dry docking activity and effectively coordinating the docking teams; and managing dry dock assets and equipment.

As part of this role, you will:
1. Demonstrate a high commitment to Health and Safety on all our sites and those of our clients.
2. Initially report directly to the site Operations Manager.
3. Be the company’s responsible person for all aspects of the dry dock usage.
4. Study vessel docking plans and set out dock blocks in preparation of vessel docking.
5. Meet with vessel master and crew to ensure they understand the requirements for their vessel docking.
6. Control and direct the team assigned to docking any vessel so that the work is carried out correctly and safely.
7. Ensure that all vessels are correctly secured and shored in a professional and safe manner.
8. Ensure that the structure of the dry dock, its associated pumping systems, and the dock blocks and shores are maintained.
The successful candidate should ideally meet the following scope:
1. Must be willing to travel to the Company’s other facilities to carry out similar work.
2. Have good written and spoken English.
3. Have the right to work in the UK if not already a UK resident.
4. Be able to work in a busy and challenging ship repair yard / dry dock environment.
5. Be flexible with hours of work with weekday and weekend working aligned to role level and remit.
6. Have extensive experience in dry docking, slipping, or Syncrolift operations.
7. Driving licence essential.
