The Ethics and Independence (E&I) team is part of the Quality and Risk Management Risk Operations Group, responsible for monitoring the firm’s and its individuals’ compliance with professional risk management and quality control policies, procedures, and guidance. The group works with the wider Quality and Risk community and across the KPMG network to exchange knowledge, develop, and improve processes and procedures in response to emerging regulatory, business, and other requirements.
Within the Risk Operations Group, there are four teams responsible for Partner and colleague independence. These teams communicate UK policy, process, and guidance on Ethics & Independence (firm and personal) and provide guidance and advice to partners and colleagues on ethics & Independence matters.
What will you be doing?
This role involves managing four teams responsible for Partner and colleague independence.
You will oversee the daily operations of these teams, consult with relevant Ethics and Independence colleagues, and support senior management in enhancing compliance levels across the firm.
* Ensure processes are carried out timely, working with assistant managers within the teams.
* Oversee mandatory preclearance for Partner and Partner Equivalent population, and manage the helpdesk for Professional staff.
* Supervise the Firm, Personal independence teams, and the Financial Investment data team.
* Act as secondary escalation for non-standard queries, applying KPMG policies and relevant regulations.
* Identify, escalate, and record breaches of personal independence requirements.
* Provide management reports on team performance.
* Foster a stimulating environment for process improvement and team suggestions.
* Lead key initiatives to improve compliance levels.
* Manage data collation for the annual risk metric process.
* Drive system and process changes due to system updates and regulatory changes, including testing and guidance updates.
* Act as performance manager for team members, supporting career development and engagement.
* Lead ad-hoc projects related to Quality and Risk Management.
What will you need to do it?

* Experience with Regulatory and Firm policy application related to Financial investments and compliance.
* Strong project management skills for task identification, planning, and prioritization.
* Excellent communication skills, effective questioning, listening, and judgment.

* Strong coaching, mentoring, and team support skills.

* Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information appropriately.
* Experience in compliance or audit roles is advantageous.
