Senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist

We are seeking a Band 8a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our busy and dynamic outpatient CAMHS team in Redbridge on a permanent contract. We have a growing and supportive therapy team, and we are looking for a psychotherapist who is passionate about young people's mental health and wellbeing to join us in the delivery of high quality and effective CAMHS interventions.
This role requires a post-graduate qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body and have 2 years plus experience in delivering psychotherapy in a CAMHS setting. The successful postholder will have to be a full member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be an effective team member, using their own initiative, supporting their peers and team lead. They will have a commitment to actively support, liaise with other professionals & agencies as we embed a trauma and culturally informed model of practice within the service. They will receive regular clinical supervision from the lead psychologist and will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings. This role is suited to a candidate who is keen on service development, as well as managing a clinical caseload.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
* Successful completion of a post-graduate training in psychological practice (e.g. art psychotherapist, psychologist, family therapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist)
* To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body (e.g. HCPC, BACP, UKCP, AFT, ACP)
Experience
* Extensive experience of working with difficult, disturbed or challenging children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions
* Extensive experience of working with children and adolescents with co-morbid difficulties and special needs.
* Extensive experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/families of children and young people with complex mental health problems
* Experience of using observation to contribute to assessments of children
* Experience of carrying out generic assessment with other colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of specialist assessment carried out autonomously in order to determine the most appropriate treatment plan
* Extensive experience of providing specialist individual interventions with a wide variety of children and young people
* Experience of initiating, organising and planning inter-agency meetings aimed at setting in place a treatment package tailored to the individual needs
* Experience of providing professional teaching and training for other professionals
* Experience of providing clinical interventions in different cultural contexts
Knowledge
* An awareness of NHS priorities
* High level knowledge of the theory and practice of short term and long term clinical interventions in CAMHS/EWMHS
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and adolescents and safeguarding procedures and policies
* Knowledge of NHS, Social Care and Education structures, national policies and frameworks
* Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk
* Knowledge of electronic record systems, e.g. Rio
* Knowledge of research methodology and ability to critically interpret research findings
