Job summary Two exciting new posts have been created at the Stroke Rehab Unit in Plymouth, which we are eagerly searching for proactive, dynamic and positive individuals to fill. The post centres around optimising the delivery of a diverse array of therapeutic activities, ensuring patients are engaged, increase their physical strength and tolerance, improve their independence and confidence, ready for their discharge back into the community. The scope of the role includes tasks associated with all areas of physical therapy, cardiovascular function, occupational tasks such as those in the kitchen and bathroom, and their ability to communicate and interact with people effectively. Group therapy and delivery of prescribed exercise plans will form a significant component of this role. It will also entail working together with the registered therapists where patient's needs necessitate more assistance with their therapy. Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification. Main duties of the job This post provides support to the Registered therapists in a range of clinical and non-clinical tasks as part of the therapy service on the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. 6 days a week (Mon-Sat) service currently operates as well as Bank holiday working, but the post holder may be required to deliver within a 7 days service at some point in the future as the service needs. Although the post is primarily situated at the Stroke rehab unit, it may at times be required to work at other parts of the stroke rehab pathway depending on service needs. Caseload is primarily delivered to stroke survivors, although patients with other medical conditions may also require input. To work without direct supervision, but under the guidance of the registered staff in the delivery of specific tasks for an individual or group of patients, as part of their treatment and rehabilitation programmes. To undertake an active role in supporting, the team to plan, co-ordinate and deliver therapy services on the Stroke Rehab Pathway To take a proactive role in supporting, instigating and leading group therapy delivery to supplement the therapeutic activity patients receive on the unit.
