FM Conway is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Highway Design Engineer to join our dynamic Consultancy team. As a Senior Highway Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our urban landscapes across London and the Southeast. Reporting directly to the Senior Engineer, you will be involved in all stages of highway schemes, from initial feasibility studies, through to design, consultation, and implementation. You will have the opportunity to work on various aspects of highway engineering, such as, highway geometric design, public realm design, cycle infrastructure development, bus scheme improvements, junction design, drainage systems, including Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUD), safety enhancement schemes, implementation of 20 mph zones, parking scheme design, utility diversions (NRSWA) and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) measures.
This is a full time, permanent position, based from our Sevenoaks Head Office.
The duties of the Senior Highway Design Engineer will include:
- Developing excellent and effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, external providers and other agencies
- Assisting with monthly programme and financial reporting
- Liaising with the client team on progress
- Preparing reports, drawings, schedules, bills of quantities, cost estimates and other documents in accordance with local procedures
- Ensuring technical reports and correspondence consider current policies and best practices and are delivered on time
- Leading small design teams and mentoring junior team members
-Undertaking designer duties tasks as required under the CDM Regulations
What skills and experience do you need?
We are seeking a qualified Senior Highway Design Engineer who has experience within the highways sector. You will be degree qualified with a BEng / BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent and you will be working towards Incorporation or Chartership status with a relevant professional body. To be considered for this role you must have experience of designing new development related projects, particularly technical aspects of highways adoption issues, S38 and S278 and urban realm design. You will have strong communications skills and working knowledge of Civils 3D.
