We are a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff who provide high quality, user-friendly diagnostic radiology service.
Our PACS team support all of our services, managing an array of modern systems with a cloud-first digital strategy. As pioneers of iRefer CDS integration into secondary care and leading nationally on AI adoption, MKUH are at the forefront of the rapidly developing Radiology IT landscape.

Main duties of the job
As a vital team member, you will contribute to delivering a forward-thinking diagnostic service, ensuring exceptional patient care aligned with the Trust's core values and upholding high clinical standards to be a mentor for junior staff and students. With the imminent creation of the MKUH Scanning Centre and accelerating cross-regional work, it is really an exciting time to be joining #Team MKUH.
Responsibilities include:
* Responsible for the content, integrity, safe use, and security of the RIS, PACS and other associated imaging IT systems in the clinical environment
* Assist in the provision day to day management of the Imaging RIS, PACS and other associated imaging IT systems
* Deputise for the Imaging IT Systems Manager in their absence thereby maintaining a constant level of service for RIS, PACS and other associated imaging IT systems for the Trust
* To maintain a clinical component to your role through participation in 24/7 shift working system. This role is 80% RIS/PACS based and 20% clinical per week

Job description
Job responsibilities
* To work as a RIS PACS Senior Radiographer in the Imaging department, providing technical and administrative support to Imaging's IT systems as well as assisting the Imaging IT Systems Manager with problem solving, database maintenance, systems testing and training of staff
* The post holder will be required to help maintain and support existing information systems within Imaging and contribute to the implementation of new systems, upgrades, and modifications to the RIS, PACS and other associated imaging IT systems. This includes supporting imaging services external to the main site, such as the mobile breast screening service, for which personal transportation will be required
* The post holder will lead on testing of new or updates to Imaging related software, new RIS, PACS versions and also new systems or ways of working which may be implemented to improve data throughput, such as Teleradiology, Clinical Collaboration Platform, Thames Valley Radiology Network Image Sharing programme, Orderwise CDS, AI Adoption/Integration, Cerner code upgrades and connection of other ologies to PACS with support from the Imaging IT Systems Manager
* Manage the housekeeping of RIS PACS data with the PACS Team in a timely fashion
* The post holder will be involved in auditing, fault reporting, troubleshooting and maintenance of the RIS and PACS databases and any sundry databases under the control of Imaging, which have an influence on the RIS and PACS

Person Specification
Qualifications and knowledge
Essential
* BSc (Hons) Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
* Health and Care Professions Council Registration
* Evidence of a sound level of computer literacy (MS Teams, word, outlook, power point and excel)
* Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS), radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving communications systems (PACS)
* Knowledge of a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures
* Evidence of keeping informed of the current IT imaging agenda within NHS
* Knowledge of relevant national imaging standards (e.g., IR(ME)R 2017, IRR '17 and associated codes of practice)
* Knowledge of DICOM and HL7
Desirable
* Possesses 24-months post qualification knowledge and experience as a radiographer.
* UK radiographer work experience
* Prince 2 (or equivalent) foundation level qualification
