We are seeking to recruit a full-time therapy assistant to join our vibrant team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working with intensive care and surgical ward patients at Hammersmith Hospital.
Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in this setting are responsible for the ongoing functional assessment, intervention, and timely discharge planning of patients back to their home or other suitable environments.
This role involves working primarily with patients who are recovering from intensive care delirium, weakness, abdominal or cardiothoracic surgery, and general medical patients who are off their functional baseline.
The therapy assistant is delegated work by the therapist and they will perform patient care, including rehabilitating patients through mobilising, practicing activities of daily living, supervising exercise programs, and carrying out discharge planning tasks. They will also be expected to undertake a variety of administrative and practical tasks to support the team, e.g., ordering equipment, cleaning wheelchairs/equipment after patient use, preparing resources for treatment sessions, and assisting with onward referrals.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled therapy assistant with the ability to take the initiative and work autonomously as appropriate.
