Job title: Assistant Headteacher – Progress and Inclusion
Reports to: Headteacher
Location: Wetheringsett Manor School, Stowmarket, Suffolk, IP14 5QX
Salary: up to £60,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Term Time only
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am- 4:30pm (One SLT meeting a week until 6:00pm)

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Headteacher – Progress and Inclusion to join our close-knit team at Wetheringsett Manor School located in Suffolk.
About the role
The successful applicant will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the development specifically of the assessment and intervention / progression systems across the whole school and contribute to the school development plan with specific responsibility for progress and inclusion across the school.
Work alongside Deputy head and SLT in establishing key priorities for school development and maintain the whole school overview of the impact of progression strategies within subjects and within teaching groups, micro populations and relevant groups.
To oversee the reporting systems at various levels monitoring their impact and making recommendations.
To provide a half termly senior report on the progress across all subjects and phases.
Assist the Headteacher in leading and managing operational aspects of the school particularly pertaining to the effectiveness of interventions across academic and social interventions and working alongside the welfare deputy.
To oversee young people’s individual progression targets and programs driven by their starting points, EHCP’s and when judged against baseline testing and CAT4 metrics.
Essential
* Degree level qualification
* Experience of working with a young people in specialist, PRU or alternative provision
* Experience of working with young people from a wide range of starting points primary upwards and developing effective curriculum strategies to address need.
* Depth of knowledge in all matters relating to safeguarding children and young people
* Knowledge of new developments in assessment
Highly desirable
* Professional qualification NPQSL, NPQML in education leadership or equivalent
* Extensive and successful experience as a senior leader or in an extended leadership role
* Experience of faculty management or subject management in a variety of settings
About the School
Wetheringsett Manor School is a new independent day SEMH School for up to 42 pupils aged 11-18. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.
Wetheringsett Manor School has gone through significant refurbishment and is based in Suffolk, East Anglia and opened to pupils in November 2020. The Manor House is located in 17 acres of parkland with wooded boundaries and sits on the edge of the village of Wetheringsett. The accommodation also provides several other buildings including a converted stable block, a cottage and two industrial units.
We pride ourselves in steering pupils in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to progress them both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, we build confidence in our students, so they are able to have a greater understanding of the wider community in which they live.
