Children’s Health Care Support Worker - Including Nights and Weekends

The Children's Packages of Care team (CPOC) care for children with very complex needs in the community, this could be at home, in school or out in the community. Shift patterns include working day shifts, night shifts and weekends.
You will be working for LSCFT's Clinical Team of the Year, 2023. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic people to join our team due to expansion within the service.
The ideal candidates will have experience in a health care, social care or education setting working with children. An NVQ3 in care or equivalent care experience is desired; however, full training will be given.
Career pathway from HCSW to nursing associate is available to members of CPOC.
Main duties of the job
This can be a very rewarding role as you will be caring for children in their homes/school providing support ensuring that their needs are met. You will be attending to personal cares, moving and handling needs and engaging through play. Some of our children have additional needs such as gastrostomies and tracheostomies in which full training will be provided. You would need to be organised, able to work alone and as part of a team, adaptable, calm in pressured situations and flexible to meet the needs of the service.
The team care for children across Lancashire; therefore, only car drivers with access to a vehicle for work purposes will be considered due to shift working and the large geographical area. We have bases in Burnley and a satellite base in Preston; mileage to shifts will be reimbursed if further than work base.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent experience
* A willingness to undertake further study
* Good general education including GCSE in English Language or equivalent
Knowledge
* Good knowledge of child development
* Basic understanding of how complex needs/chronic illness affects children and families
* Sound working knowledge of professional issues e.g. confidentiality
Experience
* Experience of managing children on an individual and group basis
* Experience of interacting with Children with Complex and/or Additional Needs
* Previous experience of care in health, social, education or voluntary setting

Salary: £24,071 to £25,674 a year, pro rata.
