We are recruiting a Passive Safety Engineer for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield. You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company. This is a long-term contract role, which may run for several years.
Key Responsibilities of the Passive Safety Engineer:
1. Responsible for automotive crash passive safety performance.
2. Performance planning, test planning and analysis of CAE and physical test results.
3. Liaising between local and global other related departments at all stages of the vehicle development process.
4. Attending regular projecting meetings and feeding back key information to the department.
5. Organised and capable of effectively prioritising and completing tasks within short deadlines.
6. Proactive approach to work, ability to work on own initiative.
7. Short to middle term (2 weeks - 2 months) trip to Spain or France might be required to witness the physical crash test.
8. Confirming if design meets crash performance requirements and providing feedback to design teams.
9. Making test requests and supporting to conduct the tests.
10. Analysing CAE and test results and creating reports.
11. Creating minutes of the meeting.
12. Developing process improvement tools.
Qualifications & Experience for the Passive Safety Engineer:
1. Minimum Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Physics related field.
2. Biomechanics knowledge is advantageous.
3. Knowledge in HV vehicle architecture is a plus.
4. Experience in CAE within an automotive engineering environment is a plus.
5. Experience in Automotive Passive Safety testing or restraint system development.
6. Knowledge of body engineering or electrical architecture and systems (i.e. eCall, ACU) is a plus.
7. Understanding of vehicle passive safety design concepts.
8. Experience of interpreting, executing and analysing a variety of Regulation and consumer-based passive safety crash tests.
9. Familiar with automotive simulation and analysis tools, such as Animator, Diadem, TrackReport.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for discussing internally within the company and with external test labs.
11. Highly self-motivated and driven, with high attention to detail.
12. Ability to travel within Europe.
13. Valid UK/European driving license is a must.

2. 39 hours per week
