Job Title: Electrical Technician Location: Silverstone, Northamptonshire Contract: Full-Time Reporting To: Build Manager Salary: £35,000 to £45,000 (dependent on experience) Overview: We are seeking an Electrical Technician to join a dynamic and ambitious high-performance engineering team involved in motorsport and track-based projects. The role is suited to someone with a proactive approach, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for the engineering process. This individual will contribute to a wide range of challenging projects that require initiative and technical expertise. Key Responsibilities: Engineering and Technical Tasks: Take ownership of in-house electrical builds and commissioning. Work on complete vehicle electrical systems, including commissioning and fault diagnostics. Collaborate on the integration of electrical systems with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components. Manage electrical commissioning as part of wider engineering projects. Liaise with Tier 1 suppliers and customers. Support the creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM). Ensure electrical designs meet project budgets and timelines. Project Coordination and Management: Manage and plan individual tasks and team projects to meet deadlines and budget constraints. Assist with project delivery, including preparing specifications, conducting design reviews, and managing customer expectations. Actively engage with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes. Customer and Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain effective communication with clients and suppliers. Participate in project reviews, ensuring smooth delivery and alignment with customer requirements. Skills and Experience Required: Essential Skills: Minimum of 6 years’ experience with vehicle electrical systems (Formula Student experience not applicable). Hands-on electrical assembly experience. Familiarity with motorsport/automotive data acquisition systems. Proven experience in electrical fault diagnostics and resolution. Knowledge of vehicle control interfaces and build processes. Proficiency with MS Office applications and technical documentation. Strong analytical skills and an ability to approach problems from first principles. Experience working with drawing office and build procedures. Desirable Skills: Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), HND in Mechanical Engineering, or comparable experience. Client-facing experience with strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prepare and deliver specifications within budget constraints.
