Job Title: Senior Firearms Licensing Admin Officer - HC620053
Location: Mottisfont Court, Winchester
Salary: SO1, £35,526 - £37,692 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Role
To support the Operations Manager in overseeing the administrative function within the Firearms Licensing Department, ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation, Home Office guidance and force policy, with the primary objective of maintaining public safety.
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to;
1. To oversee and undertake the processing, analysis and assessment of applications for the grant or renewal of shotgun, firearm and explosive certificates, and the variation of firearm certificates, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and requirements for application
2. To ensure the interrogation of the Police National Computer, Police National Database and other intelligence systems are undertaken to identify and collate information or material that is relevant to the applicant
3. To ensure the initial risk assessment of applications for the grant of certificates is completed and forward these to the relevant Firearms Enquiry Officer for further enquiries
4. When dealing with applications for the renewal of certificates, or grant enquiries returned by the FEO, identify and review all available information relevant to the applicant, in order to risk assess and determine whether the application can be granted or requires further action and/or consideration at a higher level
5. To support and assist in the functions of granting, renewing and amending of firearm, shotgun and explosives certificates.
6. To effectively manage the responses to the public, internal colleagues and external partners, providing advice on the business of the department
7. To lead manage and develop a firearms administration team consisting of Firearm Administration Assistants ensuring that the department develops, adopts and promotes efficient and effective processes that provide a high level of customer service

Essential Qualifications
Educated to QCF Level 4 (plus English and Maths at Level 2) OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.
Essential Experience
Proven experience of working in a specialised customer focussed environment managing complex cases/enquiries and providing specialist advice and knowledge within a similar sector.
