Our Design and Construction Project Management teams at Tesla deliver services for new Tesla showrooms, service centers, delivery hubs, body shops, and distribution centers across the region. Tesla is seeking a motivated design professional with experience in retail and industrial design. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team committed to accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
As a Design Manager, you will contribute to the design and construction of new and existing Tesla facilities. You will manage and support all phases of the design process, from concept to delivery, ensuring adherence to Tesla’s high standards of quality and innovation.
What You’ll Do
1. Provide design intent and detailed drawings (within the REVIT platform) for retro-fit and built-to-suit projects, including service centers, sales centers, collision and distribution centers.
2. Collaborate with the design team to create test fits and conceptual layouts, ensuring alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.
3. Coordinate with in-house specialists (Security, IT, Tooling, Equipment, EHS) to integrate their deliverables into design plans.
4. Prepare bid and construction packs and ensure design intent aligns with Tesla’s brand standards.
5. Engage with Architects of Record to perform site measurements and site visits, ensuring a clear understanding of existing conditions.
6. Oversee third-party architects and engineers, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables that align with Tesla’s design standards.
7. Conduct design reviews to confirm constructability and cost-effective solutions.
8. Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and contractors to ensure timely and complete execution.
9. Review and approve invoices from third-party consultants and subcontractors.
10. Monitor projects during construction to ensure design intent and quality standards are upheld.
What You’ll Bring
1. Master’s degree in Architecture, Construction Engineering, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
2. Several years of post-qualification experience, ideally within the UK or Middle East markets. RIBA Part 3 not strictly required, but advantageous.
3. Proficient in REVIT, BIM 360, and CAD applications; working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud.
4. Strong understanding of UK/international building regulations, zoning laws, and construction technical engineering.
5. Experience working with authorities and building relationships with local jurisdictions.
6. Advanced project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in parallel.
7. Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear, actionable plans.
8. Positive, enthusiastic mindset with a passion for innovative design and sustainability.
9. Willingness to travel.
