Our Water contractor client are seeking an Estimating Manager to join their Brighton based Southern Water joint venture framework on a permanent basis.\n\nThey operate on a range of Water and Wastewater projects, delivering Southern Waters capital delivery programme moving into AMP8.\n\nWorking predominantly in the Pre-ID3 stage (pre-construction), you will lead a multidisciplinary team of estimators producing estimates of varying levels of maturity to the suit the project lifecycle, this could be top-down, unit rate or bottom-up estimates.\n\nThe estimating team work closely with work-winning teams comprising Proposal Leads, Designers, Planners and Specialists to provide Southern Water with high-quality solutions to meet the needs of the project and offer value for money.\n\nThe estimating team at our joint venture client need to grow to facilitate the increased volume of works being forecast over the next 5 years, with projects varying from £500k to over £100m in value. You will be able to shape and grow the team to meet these demands.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nLead the multi-disciplinary estimating team comprising civil, mechanical, electrical estimators and support functions\nWorking closely with the Pre-Construction team, designers, engineers, and our Delivery teams to provide estimating support at multiple stages of the contract\nWork with the head of Pre-Construction to agree the estimating priorities and estimating resource levels throughout the Asset Management Period (AMP)\nLead the development and refinement of estimating strategies in response to changing business needs\nAccountable for the production of high-quality estimates at all stages of project life cycle from feasibility and concept through to detailed design (Top-Down, Optioneering and Target Cost)\nEnsure the team produce fully compliant estimates that meet the project Needs, Client Specifications, Design Deliverables and acceptable Risk profile\nEnsure technical and commercial appraisal is undertaken on all parts of the estimate including Direct and Indirect Costs\nContribute to the identification of risk and opportunities at project and programme level\nAttend (as required) site visits to support project bids and/or staff development\nContribute to the internal governance process including presentation of estimates to Senior Leaders\nLead the development and ongoing refinement of internal cost databases that facilitate benchmarking and analytics as part of the estimate review process\nWork with the client's Cost Assurance Team to demonstrate value for money in estimates \n\nQualifications\n\nDegree level qualified or equivalent in a civil, mechanical or electrical engineering related discipline (although alternative career paths will be considered).\nPreferably Chartered\nMust be highly numerate\nExperienced pricing water & wastewater non-infrastructure projects ranging from £1M to £100M+ (ideally)\nExperience with leading multi-disciplinary teams and developing people at differing stages of their careers\nCommercially aware and with a knowledge of NEC3/4 Forms of Contract\nGood technical understanding of Water/Wastewater Process is desirable as is the ability to promote alternative solutions\nGood communication skills are essential and must be a good team player with a positive "can-do" approach\nFamiliar with various Engineering Method of Measurement and Estimating Systems \n\n Benefits\n\nSalary in line with experience /estimating management background\nCar allowance\nGenerous holiday allowance\nCompany pension\nHybrid working (Brighton main office - possibility to work out of other client offices across Kent/Sussex/Hampshire)
