They have been established for over 50 years and have provided process consultancy services to some of the most recognized companies in the Oil & Gas field. Summary of the Mechanical Technician:
To maintain the integrity of mechanical systems by adhering to company and statutory requirements while promptly addressing breakdowns. Oversee and enhance a system for implementing and recording maintenance and inspections of plant and equipment at designated locations. Perform additional maintenance and operational tasks on a COMAH site.
Responsibilities:
1. The Mechanical Technician will attain and maintain competency to be authorised to work on high-pressure systems transporting flammable substances within DSEAR / ATEX legal requirements and company standards.
2. Complete maintenance, testing and adjustments on mechanical systems including equipment covered by the Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR) and critical to Process Safety Management considering COMAH Regulations.
3. Attain and maintain competency as an authorised person to work on systems including responsibility to produce and implement isolations.
4. Complete and supervise maintenance, fault finding and repair on all Systems within operational sites. Systems include high-pressure pipework, high-pressure multi-stage pumps, PSSR equipment, bulk storage tanks, actuation systems, oily water separation / treatment systems, fiscal metering, level gauging, security.
5. Complete fault finding on EC&I systems within competency limits including 24/7 breakdown response.
6. Operating Authority responsibilities under the companies Permit to work system including supervision of colleagues and contractors in safe systems of work, including preparation of risk assessments, work procedures, issuing mechanical isolation certificates and gas test certificates. This includes working with 3rd party site operator systems as required to obtain necessary work permits. This includes deputising as Operating Authority when required.
7. Act as focal point for engineering projects having input into all stages of the project plan ensuring works are planned and completed with due regard to requirements for safety and operations.
8. Work to planned maintenance and inspection procedures and schedules, using the maintenance management system including the upkeep of plant history files.
9. Supervise works in proximity to buried cross country pipelines in accordance with established working procedures.
10. Provide operational support as required by companies in response to emergency situations including dealing with emergency services and statutory bodies.
11. Participate with company working groups and committees as required.
12. Source suppliers, obtain quotes, agreement of Terms and conditions, raise orders for goods and services required for maintenance and inspection responsibilities in accordance with the company purchasing system.
13. Undertake work on assigned projects and fulfil other objectives related to operational equipment and sites within timescales agreed with Line Manager.
14. Undertake functional and personal development training.
Requirements of the Mechanical Technician:
1. A recognised professional qualification in a relevant Mechanical discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard.
2. Experienced Mechanical Technician or Maintenance Engineer who is experienced in maintenance, root cause fault analysis and ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations including dealing with emergency services and statutory bodies.
3. Awareness of fundamental Health & Safety practices in the workplace.
4. Full Driving Licence.
