The National Theatre’s mission is to make world-class theatre, for everyone. The National Theatre (NT) creates and shares unforgettable stories with audiences across the UK and around the world. For more information about the NT, you can visit nationaltheatre.org.uk.
The National Theatre is a Grade 2* listed building and perhaps the UK’s pre-eminent 20th-century example of Brutalist architecture, using a limited material palette to maximum architectural effect. This unique building has a floor coverage of over 57,000 sq.m. with substantial public foyer spaces, three auditoria, rehearsal rooms, office spaces, and backstage spaces for technical resources and support areas, alongside costume making and construction workshops.
Reporting to the Head of Estates Capital Projects, the post will be responsible for supporting the Estates Capital Projects team in all project engineering matters for its wide portfolio of capital projects, including the programme of NT Infrastructure Upgrade projects to be delivered by March 2026. The role will act as a point of contact for Contractors, Designers, NT Project Managers, external Project Managers, and the Programme Manager for all engineering-related queries.
This is a unique client-side project engineering leadership role. The successful candidate will possess relevant experience in an M&E project management role, having delivered a variety of building services and infrastructure projects across diverse building types. We are seeking an individual with a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and receptive disposition, alongside the interpersonal and communication skills to operate successfully with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
Setting a culture with more representation in the workforce, on stage, and in our programming, where staff and freelancers can succeed and thrive, has been central to our vision for the National Theatre. Our ambition is to achieve greater diversity in gender, race, disability, sexuality, socio-economic background, faith, and age.
