Sea Freight Import Coordinator Annual Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience) Location: Knowsley Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (Office-based) Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 4pm We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our client's team as a Sea Freight Import Coordinator. This role is pivotal in managing the logistics and supply chain operations for our manufacturing and distribution business. Responsibilities: Sea Freight Coordination: Oversee all aspects of sea freight shipments, including cargo booking, transport arrangements, and adherence to shipping regulations Import/Export Documentation: Prepare and manage essential documents such as Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Certificates of Origin Customs Compliance: Ensure full compliance with customs regulations for both imports and exports, including submitting declarations and collaborating with customs brokers as needed Tracking & Reporting: Monitor shipments, maintain accurate status updates, and provide regular progress reports to internal teams Vendor & Carrier Liaison: Establish and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics providers Problem Resolution: Address and resolve issues that may arise during shipping, such as delays, damage, or customs holds, and implement effective solutions Cost Control: Monitor freight costs, negotiate competitive rates with suppliers, and ensure shipments remain within budget Inventory Management Support: Work with the warehouse team to ensure adequate stock levels and assist in coordinating customer orders and stock replenishment Customer Service Support: Handle customer inquiries related to shipping schedules, delays, or delivery updates Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience in a sea freight/logistics role is essential Knowledge of Shipping Procedures: Strong understanding of sea freight logistics, import/export documentation, and customs clearance processes Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with external vendors, freight forwarders, and internal teams Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy, particularly when preparing and reviewing shipping documents Problem Solving: Proactive approach to resolving issues in the shipping process IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experienced with shipping/logistics software Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when required Qualifications: Relevant certifications in logistics, shipping, or import/export are desirable but not essential This position offers a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to advance their career in logistics and sea freight imports, working for a growing business that manufactures and distributes high-quality temporary steel fencing solutions worldwide.
