Location: This role is based in The Quadrant: MK. This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered.
Band & Salary: 4B 35,582- 40,830

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a highly numerate person with a keen eye for detail. We seek an enthusiastic person with a passion for investigation with highly developed skills in report building, data management, and analysis. Someone that will constructively challenge current methods of working and develop new and innovative ways of presenting data and providing insights on train performance. Expertise in Power BI, Business Objects, and other reporting software is vital.
About the role
The Network Performance team oversees nationwide performance and has a unique position within the railway of being unlimited in the scope of issues we can explore. We are responsible for reporting on official statistics for the railway as well as articulating the official narrative on performance. We lead on innovation for the performance community within the railway in terms of new data sources and new metrics and we are the key point of contact between Network Rail and the regulator and the DfT on performance issues.
What does the average day look like?
As a performance analyst, you will uncover trends and root causes using a range of analytical techniques. You will develop and maintain models and tools that provide the industry with valuable insights into performance metrics. You'll collaborate on large and small scale analysis projects with route and operator teams seeking to understand the root causes of their localized performance issues. By producing comprehensive reports, datasets, and analytical tools, you'll support stakeholders and regulators in understanding performance trends. Additionally, you'll respond to ad-hoc requests and implement self-service solutions. As part of the national team, you will be at the forefront of innovation in how the industry talks about and analyses train performance.
Essential Criteria
* Strong analytical/statistical skills or aptitude
* Intermediate/advanced knowledge of appropriate IT packages
* Strong organisation and time management skills
* Good communication skills (verbal and written)
* Customer focused
* Ability to work within a team
Desirable Criteria
* Presentation skills
* Degree level qualification in a numerate or analytical discipline
* Flair for mathematics and problem solving (proven record of successful innovation and creativity)
* Business Objects and Excel
* Knowledge of railway performance management systems
* Knowledge of railway operational planning
