The role –
HR -
To provide high quality interpersonal and communication skills as part of excellent customer service.
Provide initial HR support to the School being the first point of contact for any queries from staff. To deliver excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Over time, this may lead into building managers’ expertise and ability to handle repeated situations themselves.
To liaise with the Head of HR on all HR matters and for guidance/support.
Record and action all staff absence (e.g. sickness and special leave) in accordance with procedures.
Maintain and update relevant HR information systems with employee information including new starters, contract
and salary changes, leavers and ensure it is accurate.
To administer and monitor the probationary period for all support staff and action accordingly.
Minute HR meetings e.g. disciplinary, grievance, flexible working requests.
Responsible for the end to end administration process for leavers including Exit Interviews and reporting.
Prepare reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
Offer high quality communication with colleagues and other customers, adapting the style to the audience and building trust in relationships.
To use strong questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and causes before taking action.
Recruitment
To liaise with Head of HR regarding the recruitment process including preparing job descriptions, person
specifications, information packs and adverts.
Placing job adverts on recruitment platforms and preparing application paperwork for shortlisting.
Contact shortlisted candidates, carry out appropriate vetting processes in accordance with the
agreed School Recruitment Process.
In liaison with the recruiting manager, prepare interview scheduled and all administrative duties relating to the
recruitment interview process.
Prepare appropriate contract amendment paperwork for internal candidates moving to a new role.
Ensure all safer recruitment administration are completed in line with best practice.
Ensure all appropriate safeguarding checks (as per Keeping Children Safe in Education) are carried out on
volunteers, students, agency staff and are entered on SCR.
Compliance
Contribute to the maintenance of the Single Central Register (SCR) for the School ensuring that it is up to date and
accurate at all times.
Work to incorporate new regulations and guidance in relation to HR processes, managing the required HR records as required.
Supporting in the delivery of compliance processes when additional support is needed.
General
Carry out any other task or duties deemed reasonable by the line manager.
Plan and organise workload to meet commitments and KPIs, including adapting to changing priorities or requirements.
Handle conflicts and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
Identifying opportunities for performance and service improvements in HR, and acting on these within the authority of the role with the guidance of the Head of HR.
Supporting the Head of HR with the implantation of HR changes and projects within the School.
To be proactive and take ownership of work to see items through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
To be self reflective and to seek feedback to improve own performance and overall capability.
To build and maintain strong working relationships with others in the HR team and across the School.

Candidates experience / requirements –
Applicants should have already achieved GCSEs in English and Maths at grades 4-9 / A*-C and will be required to provide evidence of these qualifications.
Experience
Administrative experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Skills and Knowledge
Ability to use Microsoft systems and O365.
Some knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, current employment legislation and HR practices.
