Our Team
Our Platform as a Service (PaaS) team holds a pivotal position in shaping the future of our platform services in VM's Technology Estate, defining, and executing the strategic vision for our PaaS offerings, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and innovation in our platform services.
As part of PaaS Windows Server Team, you'll collaborate with technology and project teams to ensure that change within our environment is managed effectively.
The core aspect of your role will cover the 3rd line support of enterprise services delivered to Virgin Money internal and external customers hosted on Windows Server Physical and Virtual Infrastructure. Vulnerability Management, Security update scheduling, and deployment of updates to the Windows server estate is a key part of the role, so experience in this area is expected.
Alongside support requirements, you'll work as part of larger project delivery teams, to deliver new services and enhance existing services. Your role will span across all the project lifecycles including (but not limited to) design influence, infrastructure build, test environment support and implementation deliverables and support.
What you'll be doing...
* Working closely with other Technology staff and 3rd parties
* Collaborating with project teams to ensure that change within the environment is managed and controlled effectively.
* 3rd line support of enterprise services delivered to Virgin Money internal and external customers.
* Manage the patching lifecycle, including scheduling, deployment, and verification.
* The role holder will have a level of responsibility for identifying, analysing, quantifying, and communicating technical risk within the banks on premise & cloud platforms.
* The role may require occasional evening or weekend work for patch deployment, system upgrades/changes.
* Working closely with 1st and 2nd tier support teams to deliver a professional effective enterprise support offering.
* Supporting and implementation deliverables and support.
* Project lifecycles including (but not limited to) design influence, infrastructure build and test.
* Out of Hours On-call rota duties providing 24/7 cover
We need you to have...
* Excellent knowledge and experience in IT security, system administration, with a focus on security patch management and operating system upgrades
* Experience liaising with 3rd party suppliers
* Demonstrated experience in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to streamline patching and upgrade processes.
* Excellent knowledge supporting Windows Server Operating System (Install, Configure, Manage)
* Demonstrated experience supporting Active Directory (Install, Configure, Manage)
* Excellent knowledge of support and management of Windows Networking Technologies (DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP)
* Demonstrated experience using MS Failover Clustering (Install, Configure, Manage)
* Management and experience administering Infoblox
* Management and experience administering VMWare including upgrades and patching
* Demonstrated experience administering SCCM (Install, Configure, Manage) & SCOM
* Experience supporting McAfee ePO
* Experience supporting Trend Micro DSM
* Understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerability management, and system optimisation.
* Experience of working in a highly governed and controlled IT environment

* Possess a MCSA/MCSE Certification
* Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive change in a collaborative manner.
